winter hair color trends in 2019

What is the best way to deal with uncomfy seasonal changes? Right, it’s all about changing your hair color! Dyeing your hair may not bring back the hot summer days, but it will make the cold winter days much more enjoyable and colorful.

In this article, I am going to show you the most popular winter hair color trends in 2019. I’m pretty sure they will make you want to ditch your beanie for good!

1. Honey Bronde

A honey bronde hair color, which is a mixed color of brown and blonde, will give you beach vibes with its bright highlights and works on any base color. Next time you’re craving summer, you know what to do!

2. Blended Roots

Getting your roots touched up belongs to the past as grown-out roots are the new trend.

Whether you are blonde or brunette, grown-out roots will work well for you. All you have to do to make this hair color look as natural as possible is to get highlights that match your natural base color.

3. Mahogany

If you want to start your new year with warmer and dimensional colors, try an auburn gold highlight. This will give you a beautiful, dimensional, shiny and warm glow.

4. Cool Pastel Colors

Patel tones are the best way to cover old highlights. Especially blue, lavender or pink tones are the ones to watch for 2019.

6. Soft Babylights

Another new trend in 2019 will be soft and natural-looking highlights, especially blonde highlights. For blonde highlights, it is recommended to keep the root color a few shades darker than the rest of your hair. Your hair ends should have the lightest color.

7. Creamy Blonde

Platinum blonde will be replaced by a warmer and creamier shade. This will give your hair a more buttery baby blonde look.

8. Caramel Balayage

Subtle caramel tones are about to be a big trend in 2019. If you have dark brown or black hair, a soft caramel-colored balayage will give you dimension around the face.

If you are blonde, you can create the same effect by asking your hair stylist for shadowed roots with warm brown lowlights.

9. Rich Brunette

Warm chestnut color are extremely popular during the winter months. A brunette shade should be your #1 choice if you want your hair to look shinier and glossier without adding highlight to your base color.

In order to maintain the color, it is highly recommended using a sulfate-free shampoo to keep your hair color from getting brassy.

10. Icy Blonde Hair

  1. Nice! I love the cold brew color. It’s that perfect deviation from sandy blonde beach girl hair. My girlfriend is looking for some shades close to this, and I’ll have to recommend it to her. She has icy blonde hair now, and I love it, but for winter she wants to try something different, and I think this might be exactly what she’s looking for. Thank you for the article and all of your recommendations! Will definitely be sharing this. Happy holidays to you this year ! ~Koda

    1. Hi Koda, thanks for chiming in 🙂 Oh I love icy blonde hair, it just looks magical! I hope this article will inspire her and help her find her favorite hair color for this season. You’re very welcome! I wish you happy holidays too 🙂 All the best, Ruya

  2. Hi Ruya – thanks for sharing this great post. As you can see from my photo, I’m a bleached blonde and have been for about 40 years! To be honest, I’m fed up with maintaining this colour every six weeks, and am looking for new ideas. My natural colour is dark blonde. Do you think I should just let it grow out and put up with difference in colour, or would lowlights work better? Thanks for your help, all the best, Diane

    1. Hi Diane 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! From what I can see, your hair color looks absolutely beautiful. I would love to dye my hair blonde some time but since I have never dyed my hair, I’m not so sure how it would look on me, lol. I can relate to that… Actually, I would try both and see which one works better for you. Experimenting with different colors is not such a bad idea and can help you figure out what suits you best and what makes you feel more comfortable. Hope this helps! All the best, Ruya
